Asset Protection Associate

Position Title: Asset Protection Associate

Reports to: Director of Loss Prevention

Job Summary: Identify and apprehend shoplifters. Aid store management in all areas of security. Inform Loss Prevention Director of any internal security problems.

Hours of Work: Store Detectives will be expected to work a rotating 8 hour shift. Shifts will be anytime between the hours of 6am and 10pm. Weekend and holiday work is required.

Essential Functions:

1. Conduct surveillance of the store sales floor for any illegal activity.

2. Identify and apprehend shoplifters.

3. Report to Director of Loss Prevention all observations of infractions of store policies by store associates.

4. Court Cases:

a. Make decision as to when the Delaware State Police will be called on an apprehension.

b. Responsible for signing the complaint in court.

c. Responsible for securing all evidence in shoplifting cases for which s/he has signed the complaint.

d. Responsible for appearing and testifying in court for all shoplifting cases for which s/he has signed the complaint.

5. Electronic Surveillance Systems:

6. Responsible for the proper use and care of the camera system.

7. Responsible for taping predetermined areas in the store when security is not present in the store.

8. Responsible for programming VCR's when taping.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Auditing vendors.

2. Participating in shrink audits.

3. Reviewing of surveillance tapes.

4. Participating in internal store investigations.

5. Provides security and assist payroll check cashing program.

Qualifications:

1. Must have a clean criminal record and must pass a background investigation.

2. Must have a valid driver's license.

3. Must have access to a dependable car and use it for work.

4. Must possess good oral and written communication skills for court appearances and written reports.

5. Ability to identify and apprehend shoplifters.

6. Must sign agreement of unarmed status.
