Fabricator with Grating experience

Position Summary

Magellan Corporation is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel or grating fabrication, a strong understanding of shop drawings and blueprints, and the ability to produce quality work in a safe and professional shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural steel and grating components according to shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Read, interpret, and assess shop drawings and blueprints to determine fabrication requirements.
• Measure, cut, fit, assemble, and prepare materials for welding and final fabrication.
• Ensure fabricated components meet required dimensions, specifications, and quality standards.
• Safely operate fabrication tools and equipment.
• Perform welding and related fabrication tasks as required.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and general fabrication shop practices.
• Work effectively with other fabricators, welders, supervisors, and shop personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of structural steel or grating fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and understand shop drawings and blueprints.
• Strong measuring, layout, fitting, and fabrication skills.
• Welding certificate preferred but not required for candidates with appropriate hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
• Ability to use common fabrication tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to follow instructions and meet production deadlines.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well as part of a team.
• Must demonstrate proper fabrication shop etiquette, including professionalism, respect for coworkers, maintaining a clean work area, and following established shop procedures.

Preferred Skills

• Structural steel fabrication experience.
• Grating fabrication experience.
• Welding and fitting experience.
• Experience working from detailed fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of standard fabrication practices and safety procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and work for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move materials as required.
