Job Title: Resident in Counseling (1099 Independent Contractor)

Location: Newport News, VA (In-Person Preferred / Hybrid Telehealth Available)

Schedule: Flexible / Part-Time or Full-Time Hours

Position Overview

Harmony 1, LLC is seeking a dedicated, collaborative Resident in Counseling to provide assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to adult clients. This role operates on a 1099 Independent Contractor basis, offering flexible scheduling and per-document/per-session compensation.

Compensation & Payment Structure

• Base Rate: $40.00 / hour (Negotiable based on experience).
• Deliverable Breakdown: Compensated via flat fees per completed clinical document (e.g., initial assessments, comprehensive assessment, treatment plans, progress notes) based on an estimated 1-hour completion time benchmark.
• Additional Billables: Direct compensation provided for billable therapy sessions, required supervision hours, and agency training.

Responsibilities & Key Duties

• Conduct intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and individual treatment planning for adult clients.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions both in-person (preferred) and via telehealth.
• Complete all required clinical documentation, progress notes, and service plans within mandated agency and state timeframes.
• Actively participate in required clinical supervision, agency training, and team collaboration.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related human services field from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: Active Resident in Counseling registration or Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) status recognized by the Virginia Board of Counseling.
• Certifications: Valid certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options (TOVA) (or willingness to obtain upon engagement).
• Clearances: Must successfully pass all required state/agency background checks and drug screenings.
• Transportation: Valid Virginia Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Clinical Expertise: Deep understanding of human behavior, diagnostic principles (DSM-5), treatment planning, and rehabilitation strategies for mental health disorders.
• Communication & Active Listening: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for writing thorough clinical reports, active listening, and engaging clients effectively.
• Professional Standards: Strong interpersonal skills, passion for client care, and commitment to maintaining high quality-of-care standards within a team environment.
