Speech-Language Pathologist
Job Summary: This position involves assessing and treating patients of all ages, from infants to geriatrics, who have speech, language, and/or oral pharyngeal sensory-motor challenges. The role adheres to the standards of practice set forth by professional, regulatory agencies, and institutional guidelines. The candidate will also assist in managing the daily operations of speech-language pathology services and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure optimal patient care.
Essential Functions:- Plan and provide direct patient care through the evaluation, goal-setting, implementation, review, and revision of treatment programs for inpatients and outpatients with various speech and language impairments.
- Complete necessary documentation for patient evaluations and treatments, including progress notes, discharge summaries, and reports as needed.
- Ensure accurate billing and reimbursement by maintaining updated knowledge of reimbursement codes and processes, contacting reimbursement sources as needed.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding treatment goals, home programs, and recommendations, ensuring understanding based on the patient's specific needs.
- Participate in the development of new programs, services, and organizational improvements related to speech-language pathology.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and community agencies, to integrate speech services into overall patient care and promote community growth.
- Assist in the management of daily operations, including scheduling, maintaining equipment, and adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Supervise and teach students and volunteers in the field of speech pathology in accordance with educational guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including training employees and participating in committees.
- Adhere to professional dress code and medical center policies regarding safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
- Proficient in using audiometers, formal tests, and related technology.
- Basic computer skills required, including operating systems and software applications.
- Ability to recognize and utilize standard office equipment efficiently.
- Kentucky state license and BLS certification required post-hire.
- ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence preferred.
Position encompasses a 40-hour work week with a typical schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM for a duration of 13 weeks.
