Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in HVAC to join our team. In this role, you will focus on mechanical design for small to medium-sized commercial projects, including restaurants, retail spaces, and commercial developments. Reporting directly to a Senior Engineer, you will blend technical execution with cross-discipline coordination, working within close-knit project teams to deliver efficient mechanical systems from concept through construction documents.
Key Responsibilities
- HVAC Design & Engineering: Perform HVAC system layouts, load calculations, duct/piping sizing, and equipment selection.
- Document Preparation: Develop detailed engineering calculations, technical drawings, and construction specifications.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and internal design teams to meet project deadlines and budget constraints without sacrificing quality.
- Project Management Assistance: Support day-to-day project workflows, team communication, and limited project management duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering (commercial focus preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (2010 or newer) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated proficiency in HVAC calculations and system design fundamentals
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Preferred:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification
- Proficiency in Revit / BIM modeling
- Active pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
