About this job
Job Description
Our Client is seeking an experienced NX Programmer to support design and manufacturing activities by developing precise 3D models, toolpaths, and technical drawings. The NX Programmer will focus exclusively on programming, translating complex engineering requirements into manufacturable components using Siemens NX in a highly collaborative engineering and production environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting the installation and successful operation of new machinery for a launcher platform.
Responsibilities- Develop and refine CNC programs using Siemens NX to support the design and manufacture of complex components.
- Create accurate 3D models, toolpaths, and technical drawings that meet engineering specifications and manufacturability requirements.
- Focus solely on programming activities, ensuring that all CNC programs are optimized for efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
- Provide ongoing program and technical support once machines are running, including troubleshooting issues related to tooling, paths, and post processing.
- Contribute to post process development to ensure compatibility and optimal performance with new machinery and control systems.
- Program multi-axis milling operations, including complex geometries and advanced toolpaths, to support production and tooling needs.
- Collaborate closely with internal tool designers, manufacturing engineers, programmers, quality professionals, and shop floor personnel to align programs with production capabilities and constraints.
- Support the installation and ramp-up of new machinery for a launcher platform by supplying robust, tested CNC programs and resolving programming-related issues.
- Leverage SolidWorks models and data, where applicable, to support programming and tooling design activities.
- Maintain clear documentation of programs, setups, and process changes to support repeatability, traceability, and continuous improvement.
- Senior-level CAM programming experience, with approximately 15+ years in programming-focused roles.
- Siemens NX experience, with at least 6 months working directly within the Siemens NX environment for programming and modeling.
- At least 10+ years of offline programming experience, including developing, testing, and refining CNC programs away from the machine.
- Strong proficiency in multi-axis mill programming, including creation of complex toolpaths and strategies for advanced machining centers.
- Demonstrated experience in tooling design to support effective and efficient machining operations.
- Ability to translate engineering requirements and 3D models into manufacturable CNC programs with high accuracy.
- Proven capability to troubleshoot programming, tooling, and post processing issues on running equipment.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside tool designers, manufacturing engineers, programmers, quality teams, and shop floor personnel.
- Experience using SolidWorks to support 3D modeling and integration with CAM programming workflows (preferred).
- Degree preferred in a relevant technical discipline such as mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
- Experience supporting installation and commissioning of new machinery, particularly in complex or high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with launcher platform or aerospace-related manufacturing is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, reliable CNC programs.
- Ability to adapt to evolving production needs and incorporate feedback from cross-functional teams.
The role offers a standard 40-hour work week, with the possibility of approximately 5 additional hours weekly depending on workload. Team members may choose between a 5/8s schedule (five eight-hour days) or a 4/9s schedule (four nine-hour days) with a half day on Friday, providing flexibility in work-life balance. Core working hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., supporting consistent collaboration across engineering, programming, and production teams. The NX Programmer will work closely with a team of internal tool designers, manufacturing engineers, programmers, quality professionals, and shop floor personnel in a collaborative, production-focused environment. There is no travel required for this role. Due to office space constraints, some level of hybrid work flexibility may be available, allowing a portion of work to be performed remotely while still maintaining strong integration with on-site operations and equipment.
