Job Description
Medical Assistant Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join a growing primary care practice focused on providing high-quality, compassionate care to senior/geriatric patients. (MUST BE EXPEREINCED IN PHLEBOTOMY)
This role works closely with a Primary Care Provider (PCP) in a collaborative clinical environment. The practice follows a value-based care model, allowing providers and MAs to spend more time with each patient while building strong, long-term relationships.
Location: Overland, MO 63114
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Pay Range: $19-$24/hr + Full-Time Benefits (Based On Experience)
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Start Date: ASAP, pending completion of compliance requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Greet, room, and assist patients throughout their appointments
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and patient information
- Perform routine screenings and diagnostic testing
- Perform phlebotomy - strong phlebotomy skills are required
- Assist the PCP with examinations and patient care
- Communicate patient findings, concerns, and changes in condition to the provider
- Process patient phone messages and return calls as needed
- Provide health coaching and patient education
- Perform dressing changes, apply bandages, remove sutures, and provide basic first aid
- Utilize CPR/BLS skills when necessary
- Maintain accurate, legal, and ethical clinical documentation
- Follow OSHA and other applicable safety standards
- Provide an excellent and compassionate patient experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required
- Graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare training
- 1-2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
- 6+ months of hands-on phlebotomy experience required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required
- Experience with eClinicalWorks or a similar EMR
- Geriatric/senior patient experience is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively with providers and clinical staff
