Job Description
The Laboratory Technician supports scientific research by assisting technical personnel with general laboratory operations and routine laboratory and information-handling tasks. Working under the guidance of laboratory supervision, this role performs experimental and support activities according to established methods and training in chemistry, microbiology, and biology, while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
Responsibilities- Assist technical personnel with general laboratory operations to support ongoing scientific research activities.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks following established methods, protocols, and training in chemistry, microbiology, and biology.
- Handle laboratory information and data accurately and consistently, ensuring proper documentation of procedures and results.
- Operate standard laboratory instrumentation devices and equipment in accordance with safety and quality guidelines.
- Use microscopy and imaging systems to support research and analytical activities as directed by supervision.
- Support cell biology and tissue culture work by following sterile laboratory practices and maintaining contamination-free work areas.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and guidelines to promote a safety-oriented culture.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked laboratory space, including basic equipment care and preparation.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet project timelines.
- Apply strong attention to detail when performing experiments, recording observations, and handling samples.
- Experience working with standard laboratory instrumentation devices and equipment.
- Hands-on experience using microscopy and imaging systems in a laboratory setting.
- Background in cell biology and tissue culture techniques, including sterile laboratory practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- High level of attention to detail when performing laboratory procedures and recording data.
- Self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently under guidance from supervision.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to established laboratory safety protocols.
- Familiarity with general chemistry, microbiology, and biology laboratory methods.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and apply prescribed training to laboratory tasks.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical personnel and supervisory staff.
- Strong time-management skills to work within a structured schedule and meet research timelines.
This role is based in a laboratory environment with a regular, full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position involves daily use of standard laboratory instrumentation, microscopy and imaging systems, and equipment associated with cell biology, tissue culture, and sterile techniques. Work is performed in a safety-focused setting that emphasizes adherence to established protocols and safe handling of materials and equipment. The environment is structured, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with clear guidance from laboratory supervision and opportunities to support a variety of research activities.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
