Associate Attorney - Family Law

Downtown Minneapolis law firm is seeking a Family Law Associate Attorney to join its growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys handling sophisticated family law matters and working closely with clients through complex and often high-stakes situations.

The firm represents individuals in a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, custody and parenting time disputes, spousal maintenance, property division, and high-net-worth marital dissolutions. Attorneys are given meaningful client contact, courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to take ownership of their cases while working alongside experienced practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage family law matters from intake through resolution.
• Represent clients in court hearings, motion practice, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
• Advise clients on custody, parenting time, support, property division, and related family law issues.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide practical and effective solutions for clients.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active Minnesota attorney license and good standing.
• 2-4+ years of family law experience with demonstrated exposure to family law litigation.
• Experience handling court appearances, hearings, and other litigation-related proceedings.
• Experience working on or supporting high-net-worth family law matters is strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Attorneys without direct family law experience will also be considered if they have:

• At least 2 years of transferable litigation experience, and
• A genuine interest in building a long-term family law practice.
