Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working with young learners as a Special Education Teacher in an SDC classroom setting. This role supports K-1st grade students with moderate needs, providing a structured and nurturing environment alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals. The position is based near Sonoma, CA, and runs through June 4, 2027, offering 37.5 hours per week.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active California mild/moderate education credential required
- Must be able to provide a current screenshot of CTC verification
- Prior experience in a special education setting, preferably working with K-1st grade students
- Strong collaboration skills to effectively partner with classroom paraprofessionals
- Commitment to individualized instruction, behavior support, and positive classroom management
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans to meet the instructional needs of students with moderate disabilities in a self-contained SDC classroom
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to foster student growth
- Maintain accurate documentation related to student progress and IEP goals
- Create and implement individualized behavior management strategies
- Adapt teaching approaches and materials based on student assessments and needs
