Schedule:

  • Day and night shifts available. Overtime and extended workweeks available based on project demands.


Job Summary

We are seeking Fiber Technicians to support large-scale data center construction projects throughout Alabama. This role is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting fiber optic infrastructure within hyperscale and mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate has experience working with fiber optic cable, structured cabling systems, telecommunications infrastructure, or data center environments and is comfortable working on active construction sites with aggressive project schedules.


Responsibilities

  • Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling throughout data center facilities
  • Perform fiber terminations and assist with fusion splicing activities
  • Test and certify fiber infrastructure using OTDRs, power meters, and related test equipment
  • Read and interpret drawings, fiber assignments, cable schedules, and project documentation
  • Label, document, and maintain accurate records of installed fiber systems
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues and assist with identifying faults or damaged cabling
  • Maintain high-quality standards while working within customer specifications
  • Follow all site safety requirements and established best practices
  • Work closely with project managers, lead technicians, and commissioning teams
  • Support commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities


Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working with fiber optic cabling, low-voltage systems, telecommunications infrastructure, or structured cabling
  • Experience pulling, dressing, routing, and terminating fiber optic cable
  • Ability to read construction drawings and installation documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and cable management practices
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Comfortable working overtime and flexible schedules when required
  • Ability to work safely in active construction environments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Data center experience
  • Fiber splicing experience
  • Experience with ribbon fiber
  • OTDR testing experience
  • Structured cabling experience
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or mission-critical projects
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • BICSI certification
