Job Title: Food Services Worker
Job Description
The Food Services Worker supports daily food operations by preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and providing friendly, efficient customer service. This role contributes directly to a positive dining experience by ensuring stations are well stocked, orders are prepared accurately, and back-of-house activities run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Serve food and beverages to customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Restock service stations regularly to ensure all items are available throughout the shift.
- Prepare beverages and other customer orders according to established standards and recipes.
- Perform basic food preparation tasks, such as cutting fruit and assembling simple menu items.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and delivering supplies and products within the facility.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment to appropriate service and preparation areas as needed.
- Wash and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other food preparation surfaces.
- Remove trash from work areas and place it into designated containers, following proper disposal procedures.
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage areas and workstations to support continuous operations.
- Support dishwashing activities by cleaning and organizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required.
- Operate as a barista when needed, preparing coffee and specialty beverages for customers.
- Provide attentive customer service at the cashier station, accurately processing payments and answering questions.
- Assist with pasta display cooking, preparing and presenting pasta dishes in a visible service area.
- Contribute to hospitality and facilities support by keeping customer areas clean, organized, and welcoming.
Essential Skills
- Previous food service experience, including working in a cafeteria, restaurant, or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with food preparation tasks such as cutting fruit, basic cooking, and assembling food items.
- Customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests.
- Cleaning experience in a foodservice or hospitality setting, including sanitizing surfaces and handling trash.
- Understanding of basic food safety practices and hygiene standards in a foodservice environment.
- Ability to perform dishwashing duties, including operating dishwashing equipment and organizing cleaned items.
- Experience in barista-style beverage preparation or willingness to learn coffee and specialty drink preparation.
- Experience in hospitality or facilities support, maintaining a clean and orderly service environment.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in cooking or assisting with cooking in a professional or institutional setting.
- Comfort working in multiple roles such as server, cashier, dishwasher, and display cook as needed.
- Flexibility to work different stations, including pasta display cook, server, dishwasher, and fruit and yogurt/cashier.
- Ability to work Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for general food service duties.
- Ability to work pasta display cook shifts Sunday through Thursday as scheduled.
- Ability to work server shifts on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Ability to work dishwasher shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
- Ability to work fruit and yogurt/cashier shifts on Thursday from 6:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Sunday and Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Work Environment
This role is based in a busy foodservice environment that includes front-of-house serving areas, display cooking stations, beverage stations, and back-of-house preparation and dishwashing areas. You work around standard kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, meat blocks, worktables, dishwashing machines, and food preparation tools. Shifts vary by position and may include early mornings, daytime hours, evenings, and late nights across weekdays and weekends. The environment is fast-paced and requires standing for extended periods, moving supplies between storage and work areas, and maintaining clean, sanitary surfaces throughout the day.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hamilton, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
