Role Description The Certified Surgical Scrub Tech is a full-time, on-site position located in Newton, NJ. This role is responsible for preparing the operating room for ophthalmic procedures, including setting up sterile fields, organizing instruments, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. The Surgical Scrub Tech assists the surgeon during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, and anticipating surgical needs. Daily responsibilities include verifying patient and procedure information, handling specimens, participating in turnover and cleaning of the operating room, and restocking supplies. The role also involves collaborating with nursing and clinical staff, following infection control and safety protocols, and supporting a smooth and efficient surgical schedule.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program; current CST or equivalent credential.

• Experience in operating room procedures, sterile technique, and surgical instrumentation, preferably in ophthalmology.

• Knowledge of infection control standards, patient safety practices, and surgical asepsis.
\n
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
\n
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities with surgeons, nurses, and support staff.
\n
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move equipment, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
\n
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS is a plus.
\n
• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting is preferred.
