Drafter

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a CAD Drafter job with one of our key customers in the engineering and manufacturing industry. To be successful in this position, you should have five or more years of professional drafting experience creating mechanical manufacturing drawings and 2D electrical cable and wiring documentation. You will work closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams to turn 3D models and design concepts into clear, accurate production drawings and documentation. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed technical work, problem solving, and supporting engineering teams through the full drawing and revision process.

CAD Drafter Job responsibilities:

• Create detailed 2D mechanical drawings for manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly from 3D CAD models, along with cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and system/sub-system wiring diagrams.
• Apply dimensions, GD&T, wire specifications, pinouts, surface finishes, BOMs, and title blocks in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and company standards.
• Process engineering changes and work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to review markups, clarify requirements, and resolve drawing discrepancies.
• Maintain CAD libraries and documentation, including drawing files, cable and connector symbols, and document control structures within PDM/PLM systems.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, Drafting Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
• Five-plus years of professional drafting experience producing mechanical manufacturing drawings and 2D cable/wiring harness documentation.
• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Arena PLM is a plus.
• Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T, wire harness documentation, connector callouts, and BOM creation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, with experience using Altium or a similar electronics design system preferred.
