Position Summary

The Sustainability Specialist will translate complex environmental data into reliable reporting and practical improvements. This one-year assignment combines greenhouse gas accounting, packaging compliance, and event sustainability, with close collaboration across data, technology, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn operational, supply-chain, event, and production data into accurate sustainability reporting.
  • Reconcile source datasets, investigate gaps, and document the assumptions behind greenhouse gas calculations.
  • Apply consistent emissions factors and carbon-accounting methods across Scope 1, 2, and 3 inventories.
  • Build an inventory management plan that organizes calculation procedures and evidence for assurance.
  • Partner with Data and IT teams to improve collection processes and reduce manual reporting work.
  • Check packaging composition and material quantities across products and stock-keeping units.
  • Support Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) registrations, reporting deadlines, and fee calculations for applicable U.S. state programs.
  • Track packaging requirements and assess material alternatives against waste-reduction goals.
  • Help event and production teams implement practical improvements in energy, waste, materials, logistics, and attendee travel.
  • Measure event performance, including waste diversion and emissions per attendee, and use lessons learned to improve future initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in sustainability, carbon accounting, or environmental compliance.
  • Substantial hands-on carbon-accounting experience using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol across Scope 1, 2, and 3.
  • Working knowledge of EPR regulations and U.S. climate-disclosure requirements.
  • Experience applying sustainable practices to events or media production, with awareness of frameworks such as ISO 20121.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work accurately with large datasets under reporting deadlines.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing workstreams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and nontechnical colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preparing regulatory filings or sustainability data submissions.
