Are you the person others call when a DCS is misbehaving or a PLC network needs hardening? Do you thrive on preventing plant trips before they happen? If so, this role at our Aragonite site is for you.

What you’ll tackle
  • Keep safety first—comply with and champion safe work practices, policies, and processes.
  • Partner with the Controls Systems team to deliver operational readiness for Aragonite.
  • Proactively manage the controls production environment to avoid business-impacting incidents.
  • Implement and document logic changes to minimize trips and increase uptime via the Clean Harbors MOC process.
  • Guide operators and technical peers on control strategies and best practices.
  • Design and implement process control algorithms; drive Basic Process Control and Process Optimization programs.
  • Build out goals, KPIs, reports, and dashboards to visualize system health.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and rapid resolution of performance issues.
  • Refresh and evolve DCS platforms through continuous improvement projects.
  • Administer and maintain historians (ABB, Wonderware), with Claroty on the roadmap; leverage Canary Historian where applicable.
  • Oversee DCS/PLC hardware and software reliability (ABB DCS; Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs).
  • Ensure tested backups exist for all critical systems.
  • Improve and secure the process control network; configure/install TCP/IP networks.
  • Maintain network diagrams, P&IDs, and control system drawings.
  • Direct contractors; manage work orders, parts procurement, and critical spares.
  • Set up communications with remote PLCs and DCS nodes.
  • Apply ISA, NIST, and CISA standards to advance PCN reliability and cybersecurity.
  • Support scheduled on-call coverage outside normal hours; follow all compliant procedures.
Your toolkit
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical, Chemical, or Automation/Instrumentation Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years in control systems, including maintenance and design in industrial settings.
  • Comfortable reading P&IDs and developing PLC ladder logic.
  • Programming experience across DCS/PLC lifecycles—from concept through startup.
  • ABB DCS and AB/Rockwell PLC experience; FactoryTalk, ControlLogix 5000, ABB 800xA Control Builder.
  • SCADA and VMware; administering workstations, servers, switches, and networks.
  • Analog loop tuning and troubleshooting (with or without specialized tools).
  • Microsoft Office proficiency; self-starter who can work independently.
  • Comfort with electrical installation, industrial electrical systems, conduit pulling/bending, and schematic reading.
  • Hands-on with Wonderware, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley environments.
Perks & benefits
  • Health and Safety is our #1 priority, 365 days a year.
  • Competitive pay and benefits package.
  • Health benefits begin 30 days after full-time start.
