Role: Structural Flux-Cored Arc Welder (AWS D1.1)
Location: Coatesville, PA
Compensation: $22–$34/hour, commensurate with experience, skill, and certifications
Schedule: 5:00 AM start | 10-hour shifts | Overtime available
Facility: 65,000 SF AISC-certified structural steel fabrication shop

A Day on the Floor

5:00 AM. You clock in, pull the latest shop prints, and review the WPS for the day’s runs. Your fit-up team stages heavy beams and columns under the overhead cranes. You confirm joint prep, verify weld symbols, and begin FCAW passes—vertical, overhead, and flat as required—always to AWS D1.1 standards. A grinder at your side, carbon-arc gouger ready if a repair is needed, you manage your heat, maintain bead appearance, and self-inspect each weld before moving to the next assembly. Throughout the day, you coordinate with fitters, machine operators, foremen, and quality to keep production flowing safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Work On

• FCAW welding on structural beams, columns, plates, connections, and heavy fabricated assemblies
• Producing code-quality welds to AWS D1.1 and JGM quality standards
• Interpreting weld symbols, shop drawings, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Executing joint prep, grinding, carbon-arc gouging, and weld repairs
• Safely operating around overhead cranes, fixtures, heavy steel, and material-handling equipment
• Partnering with fitters, operators, foremen, and QA to maintain throughput
• Contributing to continuous-improvement and safety initiatives

Your craftsmanship supports large industrial builds nationwide: data centers, steel mills, stadiums, conveyor systems, automated racking systems, and other complex heavy-industrial facilities.

What You Bring

• 2+ years of structural steel welding experience
• Hands-on FCAW proficiency (required)
• Background welding structural beams, columns, plate, and heavy assemblies
• Ability to meet AWS D1.1 quality requirements
• Comfort welding in multiple positions, including vertical and overhead (strongly preferred)
• Ability to read weld symbols, WPSs, and fabrication/shop drawings
• Experience with weld prep, grinding, carbon-arc gouging, and cleanup
• Current or prior AWS D1.1 certification (preferred)
• Experience in an AISC fabrication shop (plus)
• Strong commitment to quality, productivity, attendance, and safety
