Akicita Federal is hiring an Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) to deliver high-quality administrative and patient support services for the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. In this role, you will be a key part of the care team that helps veterans navigate their healthcare experience—scheduling, coordinating, and ensuring every interaction reflects the respect and efficiency our veterans deserve. - Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits using VA electronic health record systems
- Greet and check in veteran patients, verifying demographic and insurance information with accuracy and professionalism
- Manage clinic workload and appointment templates to optimize provider schedules and minimize wait times
- Process incoming correspondence, manage medical records requests, and maintain accurate patient data in administrative systems
- Communicate directly with veterans, families, and clinical staff to resolve scheduling conflicts, answer inquiries, and relay care instructions
- Support care team coordination by routing referrals, tracking consults, and following up on pending orders
- Adhere to VA privacy and security policies governing the handling of sensitive veteran health information
- Experience in medical or healthcare administrative support, scheduling, or patient services in a clinical environment
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) or medical scheduling software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with patients and clinical staff
- Ability to pass a VA background investigation and personnel suitability review prior to starting work
- Ability to work on-site at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio
