Job Description
Openwork is partnering with a mission-driven youth organization to hire an Academic Coach / Tutor for a site in Spring, TX 77373. This position supports youth and young adults ages 1425 who are currently in foster care or have aged out of the foster care system.
Were looking for someone with tutoring, mentoring, or youth-support experience who is passionate about helping students strengthen their academic skills, confidence, and independence.
Position at a GlanceLocation: Spring, TX 77373
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-Time | MondayThursday | Approx. 4:00 PM7:00 PM
Start Times: Vary by site and may begin at 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, or 5:30 PM
Work Setting: Primarily in-person, with virtual support based on program needs
- Tutor and coach youth ages 1425
- Assist with homework, assignments, projects, and exam preparation
- Provide academic support in math, science, language arts, and other core subjects
- Help students improve organization, time management, study habits, and academic skills
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive academic habits
- Track student attendance, progress, and coaching outcomes
- Complete required forms and assessments
- Attend required training, meetings, and program events
- Provide virtual academic support when needed
- Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with some college coursework will also be considered
- Experience tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or working with youth ages 14+
- Strong knowledge of core academic subjects
- Ability to assist with higher-level math, science, and language arts
- Strong communication, organization, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Availability MondayThursday during after-school hours
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license and current auto liability insurance
- Access to a personal computer
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation
- Flexibility to work with changing student schedules and needs
This opening is specifically focused on supporting students at a site in the Spring, TX 77373 area. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to this location for scheduled after-school tutoring sessions.
Depending on student and program needs, coaching may include individual tutoring, group sessions, and virtual support.
Training & Program RequirementsAcademic Coaches receive training to support consistent, high-quality services. Candidates must complete all required onboarding and training requirements, including a proprietary agreement, and participate in scheduled meetings and program activities as needed.
