American Workforce Group has partnered with a premier, full-service hazardous remediation and specialty contracting leader based in Lakewood, WA to hire an experienced, state-certified Asbestos Abatement Worker / Lead.

In this safety-critical field position, you will perform certified hazardous material removal across high-profile residential, commercial, and institutional projects throughout the Puget Sound region. Your duties include setting up critical containment zones, constructing three-stage mobile decontamination units and clean airlocks, operating negative air HEPA filtration systems, and safely stripping, encapsulating, and bagging asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead, and toxic mold. • Erect and dismantle mobile decontamination units, clean rooms, and portable three-stage shower facilities.
  • Position, operate, monitor, and maintain portable HEPA-filtered air filtration systems, negative air machines, and specialized vacuum evacuation units.
  • Apply chemical wetting agents, surfactants, and lockdown encapsulants to asbestos-bearing surfaces to eliminate airborne fiber migration during abatement operations.

  • Assemble, work from, and dismantle scaffolding, staging planks, and elevated access rigs safely.
  • Communicate clearly with project managers, site superintendents, third-party air monitoring technicians, and crew members.

  • Tools: Must provide own leather steel-toed work boots and basic construction hand tools.
  • Screening: Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, comprehensive physical exam (including respirator medical clearance/pulmonary function test), and background check.
