Role

  • The R&D Operator provides hands-on technical and operational support for research and development activities associated with new and improved filtration products and membrane-manufacturing processes.
  • This position reports to the R&D Senior Engineer and is part of the Membrane R&D Department located in Hauppauge, New York. This is an on-site role.

What you will do:

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and shut down laboratory, pilot-scale, and manufacturing equipment in accordance with instructions from R&D scientists and engineers.
  • Monitor process conditions and equipment indicators, including flow, temperature, pressure, time, and other applicable controls, to support adherence to defined process requirements.
  • Prepare materials, solutions, equipment, and work areas to support laboratory, pilot-scale, and manufacturing-scale development trials.
  • Execute experiments and membrane-characterization activities according to approved procedures and safety requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and follow Cytiva environmental, health, and safety requirements for chemical handling, waste disposal, and equipment operation.
  • Identify and communicate process, equipment, safety, or experimental issues promptly to minimize delays, material loss, and downtime.
  • Contribute practical ideas and observations that support continuous improvement of laboratory and manufacturing processes.
  • Complete laboratory records, trial documentation, equipment logs, and other required records accurately and in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

Who you are:

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics; ability to read, comprehend, and follow written work instructions in English; working knowledge of computers and Microsoft OS; and ability to use basic measuring equipment (rulers, calipers, and similar measuring tools)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Ability to safely work with certain solvents and chemicals, as required

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Working in a clean room environment, where gowns and PPE must be worn for extended periods.
  • Standing in your position for 8 hours/day and perform focused tasks in a noisy environment.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is between $22.00-$23.00 per hour
