Optometry Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Optometry Technician to support the optometrist in providing high-quality eye care. The Optometry Technician will assist with patient intake, preliminary testing, clinical procedures, documentation, and maintaining an efficient patient flow throughout the practice.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Hours: Monday-Tuesday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm; Wednesday-Thursday evenings until 7:00 pm; and Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and obtain medical, ocular, and medication histories.
• Prepare patients for comprehensive eye examinations.
• Perform preliminary and diagnostic testing, including visual acuity, tonometry, autorefraction, lensometry, and other testing as directed.
• Perform visual field testing, retinal imaging, OCT, and other specialized testing as trained.
• Assist the optometrist during examinations and procedures.
• Accurately document patient information, test results, and clinical notes in the electronic health record (EHR).

Qualifications

• Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
• Ability to learn and operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working directly with patients of all ages.
• Detail-oriented with accurate documentation skills.
• Basic computer and electronic medical record skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
