PROJECT MANAGER - SHIP CONSTRUCTION & REPAIR (DMI)

Position Overview

The Project Manager oversees shipyard construction and repair projects, including steel work, painting, outfitting, and general vessel maintenance. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with Regulatory and customer requirements. The PM acts as the primary point of coordination between production teams, QA/QC, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of ship repair and construction projects from planning through completion.
• Coordinate steel repair, fabrication, paint, blasting, outfitting, and mechanical work.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Lead daily production meetings and ensure alignment across departments.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans to maintain timelines and cost targets.
• Ensure compliance with ABS standards, customer specifications, and safety requirements.
• Work closely with QA/QC to ensure inspections, testing, and documentation are completed.
• Manage subcontractors and ensure quality and performance expectations are met.
• Prepare and deliver project updates, reports, and change orders.
• Build strong relationships with clients and represent DMI professionally.

Qualifications

• 3–10+ years of project management experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial construction.
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication, marine coatings, blasting, and outfitting.
• Experience working with ABS or similar regulatory bodies.
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‐solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced shipyard environment.
