Senior DevOps Engineer / Jira Platform Engineer

Job Summary

SajTech is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer / Jira Platform Engineer to lead the administration, configuration, integration, and optimization of Jira within an enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Jira administration, Atlassian platforms, enterprise integrations, Agile methodologies, DevSecOps, REST APIs, scripting, and migration from Azure DevOps or similar platforms to Jira.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and optimize Jira for enterprise Agile and project management needs.
• Design and maintain Jira workflows, issue types, screens, fields, automation rules, permissions, roles, and security schemes.
• Manage Jira user growth, licensing, application usage, and governance.
• Design and maintain integrations between Jira and enterprise platforms such as GitLab and ServiceNow.
• Build integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, middleware, Okta, and scripting.
• Automate data synchronization between planning, development, release, and operations platforms.
• Troubleshoot and optimize integration pipelines for performance, security, and scalability.
• Support migration from Azure DevOps, GitLab, and existing Jira environments to Jira SaaS / Atlassian Government Cloud.
• Work with Agile teams to translate Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe practices into effective Jira configurations.
• Support Agile reporting and metrics including velocity, burndown, and cycle time.
• Develop technical documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on Jira administration or engineering experience.
• Strong Jira configuration and platform administration experience.
• Hands-on experience developing integrations with GitLab and ServiceNow.
• Strong experience with REST API integrations.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
• Experience migrating from Azure DevOps or similar platforms to Jira.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting, integration, and enterprise platform engineering skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Atlassian Government Cloud.
• Experience with Confluence, Bitbucket, and Atlassian Marketplace applications.
• DevSecOps or Platform Engineering experience.
• Experience with security and compliance standards such as FISMA, SOX, and FedRAMP.
• Federal government experience.
• Atlassian certification such as ACP-620, ACP-120, or equivalent.
