We are seeking an experienced, dependable Meat Market Manager to lead the daily operations of our meat department. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of meat cutting, merchandising, food safety, inventory management, and customer service. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in product quality, an organized department, and a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the meat department’s daily operations and workflow

Cut, trim, prepare, package, weigh, and label meat products

Maintain attractive, well-stocked displays with fresh, high-quality products

Order products, monitor inventory, rotate stock, and reduce waste

Establish production priorities based on sales and customer demand

Train, schedule, and supervise department employees

Provide knowledgeable, friendly service and fulfill special customer requests

Monitor product quality, pricing, labeling, and department profitability

Maintain clean equipment, preparation areas, display cases, and storage spaces

Follow all food-safety, sanitation, workplace-safety, and regulatory requirements

Work collaboratively with store leadership and other departments

Qualifications

Previous meat-cutting, butcher, or meat-department experience required

Supervisory or department-management experience preferred

Knowledge of meat products, cuts, preparation methods, and safe handling practices

Strong leadership, communication, organization, and customer-service skills

Ability to manage inventory, control shrink, and meet department goals

Ability to work efficiently in refrigerated environments and safely use knives, slicers, grinders, saws, and related equipment

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Availability to work a flexible schedule, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
