Position Summary
The General Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair tasks related to building systems, facility equipment, and grounds operations. This position helps ensure facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas are maintained in a safe, functional, and professional condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs involving building systems, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and basic repairs on equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Maintain grounds and landscaped areas through mowing, trimming, pruning, debris removal, and general upkeep.
- Complete assigned work orders and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
- Conduct facility inspections and report maintenance concerns or safety hazards.
- Operate maintenance tools, equipment, and groundskeeping machinery safely and effectively.
- Assist with facility moves, special projects, and emergency maintenance activities as needed.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of maintenance, facilities, groundskeeping, or related experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of general building maintenance, equipment operation, and grounds care.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a professional work environment.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
