Forklift Material Handler

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Builder Materials Forklift / Material Handler to join our team. This position is responsible for loading and unloading building materials, pulling and preparing customer orders, organizing materials throughout the yard, and safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment. The ideal candidate has forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and is comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced yard or warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload building materials from delivery trucks, pallets, and customer vehicles.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to safely move lumber, building supplies, pallets, and other materials throughout the yard.
• Pull and stage customer orders according to work orders and delivery requirements.
• Read and accurately interpret work orders, material lists, and customer orders.
• Build, organize, balance, and secure loads to ensure materials are safely prepared for delivery.
• Properly use straps, braces, protective materials, and other equipment to secure loads.
• Identify, count, label, and organize materials to maintain order accuracy and inventory organization.
• Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse or yard equipment.
• Use basic hand tools when needed to open containers, prepare materials, or assist with securing loads.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area throughout the shift.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper forklift and equipment operating practices.
• Assist customers with loading materials into their vehicles when needed.
• Perform additional warehouse, yard, loading, and material handling duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, lumber yard, building supply, or similar environment preferred.
• Experience operating reach trucks, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, or other material handling equipment is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and move large or bulky building materials.
• Ability to read work orders and accurately identify, count, and pull materials.
• Basic math and counting skills.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, Measuring tools, and material handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist with a variety of yard and warehouse duties.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely handle and maneuver building materials and customer orders.
• Comfortable working around forklifts, heavy machinery, dust, noise, and other typical yard conditions.
