Front Office and Gift Shop Associate
Part-Time | Tuesday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Starting Pay: $17/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized Front Office and Gift Shop Associate to join our team. This position combines front-office responsibilities, customer service, and gift shop operations.
As one of the first points of contact for many visitors, the ideal candidate will be professional, welcoming, and comfortable engaging with the public. The position also requires someone who can balance customer-facing responsibilities with administrative, computer-based, and organizational tasks.
Responsibilities
Gift Shop & Visitor Services
- Greet and check in aquarium guests, visitors, and tour groups
- Assist with gift shop sales and aquarium admissions
- Operate the register and answer visitor questions
- Open and close the register and assist with cash reconciliation
- Enter and print memberships
- Receive, price-tag, organize, and maintain gift shop inventory
- Receive shipments and assist with inventory management
- Restock and keep the gift shop clean, organized, and presentable
Front Office & Administrative Duties
- Answer telephone calls and respond to customer emails
- Take specimen orders and assist with merchandise orders
- Schedule field trips, tours, birthday parties, and other group visits
- Confirm tours by telephone and email
- Prepare and mail membership renewal letters
- Order office and laboratory supplies online
- File documents and maintain general office organization
- Assist the team with general administrative tasks
- Work with QuickBooks, Shopify, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Required Skills & Experience
· Minimum 1 year of customer service experience
· Minimum 1 year of administrative experience
· Ability to pass a background check
· Competent with QuickBooks, Shopify, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
· Able to be friendly and positive toward customers and act as a friendly and positive team member at GSML.
· Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
· Be able to receive gift shop merchandise, move it to storage, and sometimes stand on a step stool.
· Periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
