Reach Truck Operator

Job Summary

First shift 8:00AM to 4:30PM

The Reach Forklift Operator (Reach Truck Driver / Warehouse Specialist) is a foundational role within high-volume freight forwarding and contract logistics operations. Because this position deals with large-scale global inventory, it requires precision handling, especially when navigating tall, narrow-aisle racking systems designed to maximize warehouse capacity.

The operator is responsible for utilizing stand-up or reach power industrial trucks to safely move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The ultimate goal is meeting strict safety and productivity standards while ensuring client inventory is managed perfectly.

Core Responsibilities

• Receiving & Put-Away: Safely unload inbound shipments and use reach trucks to stack and store products efficiently in high-level racking. Input placement data accurately into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Order Picking & Staging: Pull, prepare, and stage products for outbound shipment, ensuring the exact item type and quantities match customer invoices.
• Inventory Control: Perform routine inventory checks, maintain tight record keeping, and assist with full physical inventory counts and proper stock rotation.
• Quality & Integrity: Inspect inbound and outbound freight for damage or discrepancies, and report any quality variances immediately.
• Equipment Maintenance & Safety: Conduct required daily pre-shift inspections on the reach truck. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in alignment with OSHA regulations and internal "5S" lean warehouse practices.

Typical Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Usually requires at least 6 months to 1 year of experience operating material handling equipment (specifically reach trucks or stand-up forklifts) in a logistics or distribution setting.
• Certification: Must possess or successfully complete a corporate forklift training/certification program to operate the machinery on-site.
• Technical Skills: Comfort using RF scanners and navigating digital WMS software to track freight.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs, with frequent bending, stretching, and prolonged standing/walking. Ability to work in varying, unregulated warehouse temperatures.
