POSITION SUMMARY

The Metal Stamping and Fabrication Set Up Technician sets up, adjusts, and operates metal stamping presses and fabrication equipment to produce components that meet engineering and quality specifications. Reporting to the Production Supervisor within the Operations Department, this role ensures dies, tooling, and equipment are configured correctly for each production run to support safe, efficient, and on-schedule manufacturing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Machine Setup & Changeover

  • Set up and adjust metal stamping presses, dies, and fabrication equipment according to work orders, blueprints, and engineering specifications
  • Perform die changes and tooling adjustments, running first-piece inspections to confirm proper fit, alignment, and dimensional accuracy before full production
  • Troubleshoot setup and equipment issues, making adjustments to minimize downtime and scrap

Production Support & Operation

  • Operate metal stamping and fabrication equipment to produce parts that meet engineering and customer specifications
  • Monitor running production for consistency and quality, making adjustments to presses and tooling as needed
  • Partner with the Production Supervisor to sequence jobs, plan changeovers, and meet daily production schedules

Quality & Inspection

  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
  • Document setup parameters, inspection results, and production data in accordance with quality procedures
  • Identify and report nonconforming parts, escalating recurring quality or setup issues to the Production Supervisor

Safety & Equipment Maintenance

  • Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements when setting up and operating equipment
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs to keep machines in proper working order
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S standards


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1–3 years of experience setting up and operating metal stamping and/or fabrication equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications, with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined in 22 CFR 120.15), as this role may require access to export-controlled technical data subject to ITAR/EAR


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed on the manufacturing shop floor, with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and metal fabrication processes. Requires standing for extended periods and frequent lifting of up to 35–50 lbs. Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear. Minimal travel required.
