Position Summary
The Slip Sheet Forklift Operator works with minimum supervision as a member of a team to receive customer product and transport it throughout the facility. This operator runs a lift truck equipped with a push/pull (slip sheet) attachment to load, unload, and transfer product, along with moving, staging, and stocking material throughout the warehouse. Precision is critical — slip sheet handling leaves little room for damaged loads.
Essential Functions
- Operate a lift truck with a push/pull slip sheet attachment for the full shift, loading, unloading, and transferring product without damage.
- Drive backwards and twist to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
- Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, slip sheets, skids, and boxes, and secure material for transport to designated areas.
- Move product between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas; place product in stock and stage for outbound.
- Sort and segregate product by SKU during unloading to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Perform routine inspections on equipment and attachments (including battery cleaning/recharging) and report defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Complete paperwork neatly and accurately; properly count, document, or scan units for the function being performed.
- Meet daily productivity and quality expectations and maintain a clean, organized, safe work area.
Qualifications
- Recent, extensive hands-on slip sheet experience — this is the core requirement and must be clearly spelled out on the resume.
- Confident, controlled operation of a push/pull attachment.
- Solid recent forklift experience in a warehouse or distribution setting; two (2) years of related warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred; High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic computer/tablet and hand-held radio skills.
- Careful, damage-conscious approach to product handling; strong accuracy and accountability.
- Willingness to accept overtime as the workload requires.
- Strong attendance, on-time arrival every scheduled shift, and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Constant sitting and twisting/turning while operating equipment; frequent standing, climbing onto the forklift, and reaching above shoulder.
- Frequent lifting/carrying up to 60 lbs., occasional 61–100 lbs.; frequent pushing/pulling.
- Constant near and far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
- Exposure to cold in winter, heat in summer, dust, dirt, moving objects, and warehouse noise throughout the shift.
Site Conduct & Safety Requirements
- Safety shoes worn at all times on site; safety vest and seat belt required.
- No mobile phone use in the warehouse; no earphones or radios on site.
- Comply with all applicable safety and food safety requirements, including completion of client-provided food safety training and assessment prior to performing work, where required.
- Must pass background screening meeting federal, state, food safety, and client standards.
Why This One Is Worth a Look
- A skill-specific role where slip sheet experience is genuinely valued.
- Steady Monday–Friday day shift — home by dinner.
- Weekly pay through Simply Great Staffing.
