THE POSITION
Step into the Highway Equipment Manager 2 role and take the lead in keeping critical equipment and facilities running smoothly. This is a managerial position that covers McKean, Potter, and Cameron Counties, offering a broad scope of responsibility and impact. You will use your skills to oversee repairs, maintain facilities, and support crews throughout the region. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position manages equipment needs, facility maintenance, and staff operations that support the McKean County Maintenance Organization. This is a managerial position that covers McKean, Potter, and Cameron Counties. As a Highway Equipment Manager 2, you will perform the following duties:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Prepare schedules and oversee preventative care for vehicles and facilities
  • Inspection Oversight: Inspect equipment to identify needed repairs or replacements
  • Training Coordination: Manage operator training, testing and certification activities
  • Inventory Management: Monitor usage and maintain detailed records of tools and equipment
  • Report Preparation: Supervise the creation of time, progress, and equipment reports
  • Personnel Leadership: Assign tasks, evaluate performance, and guide staff development


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License which is not under suspension with Air Brake restriction removed.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class 4 or Class 7 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification by end of probationary period.
  • This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
