Step into a rewarding contract position supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic school environment located near National City, CA. We're seeking a dedicated professional with a passion for making a positive impact on students in Transitional Kindergarten through 2nd grade, working primarily with a moderate to severe caseload. This is a full-time opportunity (Monday to Friday, 33 hours per week) available immediately and continuing through June 3, 2027.

Applicants should bring specialized knowledge and current credentials to address the diverse learning needs found in special education settings. If you hold active California Moderate/Severe Special Education credentials and are eager to support young children through creative, individualized teaching, this role is for you.

Qualifications:

  • Active California Moderate/Severe Special Education teaching credential (required)
  • Experience working with early elementary students (TK-2) preferred
  • Ability to build individualized educational programs to support a range of learning needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that accommodate the specific needs of each student
  • Oversee and manage a caseload comprised of students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and advocate for student success
