Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners as a contracted Special Education Teacher focused on serving students with moderate to severe needs in grades TK-2. This position offers full-time hours, working Monday through Friday for a total of 33 hours per week. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through early June 2027. Located within a welcoming school community near La Mesa and National City, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting students and collaborating with dedicated staff.
What we’re seeking:
- Valid and active California credentials specifically authorizing work with moderate/severe populations
- Experience or genuine interest in working with early elementary students
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Passion for fostering inclusion and supporting diverse learners
- Ability to modify instruction and adapt curriculum to individual needs
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored for each student
- Providing targeted instruction in academic, behavioral, and functional life skills
- Collaborating closely with families, therapists, and other educators
- Keeping accurate records and regular progress monitoring
- Creating a positive, structured classroom environment that supports every learner
You will be compensated within the range of $40 to $55 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
