MRI Technologist
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 9 Weeks
Schedule: 4 × 10-Hour Shifts
Weekly Hours: 40 Hours/Week
- Wednesday: 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday: 9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Travel: $2,900–$3,100 Gross Per Week, based on experience
- Local: $80–$85 per hour, based on experience
We are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist for a 9-week contract opportunity in New York, NY. The MRI Technologist will operate and prepare specialized magnetic resonance imaging equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures while applying appropriate technical judgment to obtain high-quality diagnostic studies based on established protocols and individual patient needs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI imaging procedures according to established protocols.
- Position patients and appropriate imaging coils to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Explain MRI procedures to patients and provide relevant instructions before and during examinations.
- Review patient MRI safety screening questionnaires before allowing patients into the MRI scan area.
- Maintain strict MRI safety protocols and prevent unauthorized ferromagnetic materials from entering the scan room.
- Ensure MRI images are accurately labeled according to departmental procedures.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
- Ensure completed images are transmitted to the appropriate PACS system in a timely manner.
- Complete required examination documentation in the appropriate Radiology Information System.
- Maintain cleanliness of MRI rooms and equipment before and after each shift.
- Remove soiled or used linens and maintain a clean, safe imaging environment.
- Scan and maintain patient-related documentation as required.
- Maintain necessary supplies and accessories in the imaging room.
- Accurately record required patient tracking information.
- Schedule examinations in the Radiology Information System as needed.
- Report equipment malfunctions, required repairs, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist physicians during procedures when required.
- Coordinate transportation or communication for inpatients as necessary.
- Perform related clerical duties when support personnel are unavailable.
- Follow infection-control policies and procedures to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
- Participate in required in-services, training, and professional development activities.
- Maintain required licensure and certifications in good standing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Knowledge of physical sciences and MRI physics.
- Strong technical skills related to MRI imaging.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to follow imaging protocols and maintain diagnostic image quality.
- Strong understanding of MRI safety procedures.
- 2 years of MRI Technologist experience preferred.
- Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T.-approved program in Radiologic Technology.
- Valid New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
- ARRT MRI Registry.
- BCLS Certification.
