EHS Coordinator (Bilingual in Spanish)

About the Role:
The Safety Coordinator, also commonly searched as EHS Coordinator, Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator, Safety Specialist, and EHS Specialist, supports environmental, health, and safety programs within an industrial manufacturing environment in the Birmingham, Alabama area. This entry-level position is designed for a bilingual English and Spanish professional seeking hands-on experience in workplace safety, employee training, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, and continuous improvement. The role supports day-to-day EHS activities while working closely with operations and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities:

• Support environmental, health, and safety programs focused on employee safety, regulatory compliance, accident prevention, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and opportunities to improve EHS practices.
• Assist with safety training, new-hire orientation, toolbox talks, and employee education in both English and Spanish.
• Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, and internal safety requirements.
• Participate in incident investigations, hazard assessments, corrective action tracking, and documentation of safety-related activities.
• Maintain EHS records, training documentation, inspection reports, and compliance materials using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, supervisors, and employees to reinforce safe work practices throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Support industrial hygiene activities and employee exposure prevention programs in an environment involving machinery, heat, noise, and required PPE.

Qualifications:

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
• OSHA 30, OSHA 511, or OSHA 501 training is required.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is required.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated interest in environmental health and safety, occupational safety, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, or manufacturing operations.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees, supervisors, and leadership.
• Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment, walk throughout the facility, wear required PPE and respiratory protection, and satisfy applicable physical requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline.
• Previous internship, co-op, manufacturing, industrial safety, or environmental compliance experience.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, or industrial hygiene concepts.
• Interest in building a long-term career in EHS, safety management, environmental compliance, or occupational health.
