Job Description
Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Department: Finance
Location: Miami, Fl
Reports To: Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

 Overview:

We are seeking a high-potential, resourceful problem solver to join our Finance team as a Senior Financial Analyst at Global Crossing Airlines, the leading provider of on-demand and scheduled charter air service. This is a high impact role, and it is not a report-writing role. You will be handed open-ended business problems, frame them, build the analysis, and land on a recommendation that influences operational decisions, fleet utilization strategies, and customer contract evaluations. The ideal candidate combines operational and financial acumen (for example, an industrial engineer with a finance background, or a finance professional with deep operations exposure), builds excellent models, and translates complex data into actionable insights that drive profitability and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take ownership of loosely defined business problems, determine the approach, and deliver solutions independently without step-by-step direction.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, fleet strategy, customer contract pricing, and long-range planning.
  • Conduct variance analysis of actual results vs. budget/forecast, explaining the price, volume, and operational drivers behind the results and recommending corrective actions.
  • Analyze monthly performance, including revenue from charter contracts, aircraft utilization, crew costs, and fuel efficiency.
  • Analyze operating metrics, cost trends, and revenue streams to identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Commercial, Technical Operations and Network Planning to evaluate business cases and capital investments.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership through monthly and quarterly reports and presentations that explain the "why," not just the "what."
  • Support the development of the airline’s annual operating plan and strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate the financial performance of routes, fleet utilization, fuel costs, and other operational KPIs.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and compliance with internal controls.
  • Utilize business intelligence tools, ERP systems, and AI tools to automate routine work and improve reporting and analysis processes.
  • Support ad hoc projects including route feasibility, aircraft acquisition analysis, and pricing optimization.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive developments that may impact financial performance.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or in Industrial Engineering with demonstrated finance coursework or work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, or in an operations or engineering role with direct financial responsibility (budgets, cost models, or business cases). Track record of delivering beyond your current title or scope, such as owning models, processes, or projects no one assigned, matters more than years or titles held. Airline or transportation industry experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, scenario planning).
  • Hands-on P&L fluency: has built, owned, or explained a P&L, budget, or cost model, and can trace how revenue, cost structure, and margin drivers fit together.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and corporate finance principles.
  • Experience with ERP and business intelligence tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tableau, Power BI, Sage, Cube).
  • Exceptional critical-thinking and problem-solving skills: resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to develop solutions without a step-by-step guide. An outside-the-box thinker who is also structured and rigorous.
  • Demonstrated operational and financial acumen: able to connect what happens in operations (crew, maintenance, network, aircraft utilization) to what shows up in the P&L.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to stakeholders.
  • Rigorous about accuracy, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • MBA is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AI tools, especially Claude, to accelerate analysis, modeling, and automation of routine tasks.
  • Knowledge of airline economics, and KPI strategies.
  • Familiarity with Part 135 or Part 121 operations and charter-specific metrics such as ACMI, Revenue/Block Hour, Sub-Service, Aircraft Utilization/Availability, Yield/Block hour.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work environment may be available depending on business needs.
  • Travel is rare.
  • Fast-paced, dynamic team environment with high visibility and impact.
