Job Description
The Family Advocate supports the Family & Community Partnership Manager in meeting the recruitment, enrollment, and attendance goals of the Early Head Start program. This role provides case management and crisis intervention services for up to 16 families, helping them identify and work toward personal goals while connecting them with appropriate community resources. Family Advocates are also vital to promoting and sustaining parent involvement across all program sites.
Provide high-quality caregiving services and comprehensive family support to children from birth through three (3) years of age and their families through weekly home visits and twice-monthly group socializations. Promote optimal physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development through culturally diverse and respectful education and support for parents and children. Prevent and identify developmental, health, and family challenges at early stages and provide appropriate intervention, referrals, and ongoing support for children and families at risk. Support parents as their child’s first teacher by providing information, education, and coaching to develop appropriate and effective parenting skills. Encourage active parent involvement through hands-on participation in home visits and group activities. Enhance employment training and employability planning opportunities for families and pregnant women to improve overall quality of life. Provide ongoing education, monitoring, and referrals for parents and children from conception through age three. Collaborate with Health, Nutrition, Early Chilhood Education, Family and Community Partnership, and Inclusion Leadership to ensure comprehensive child and family services. Implement the Early Head Start Home-Based Program in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and performance standards.
