Pay Rate: $52–$54/hour

Adventist Health Clear Lake is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a 13-week assignment supporting laboratory services at a 25-bed hospital.
The CLS will perform laboratory analysis on clinical specimens, evaluate quality controls and specimen integrity, maintain laboratory instrumentation, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of results.
Required Experience & SystemsMinimum 2 years of experience in all aspects of the clinical laboratory
EPIC experience – REQUIRED
WellSky experience – Highly Preferred
Experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality-control procedures
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to handle STAT and critical results appropriately
EMR Note: Facility Q&A identifies Cerner as the current laboratory charting system, while the requisition specifically requires EPIC experience. Candidates should be prepared for an environment involving both systems.
Education & LicensingBachelor's or BA/BS degree in Medical Technology or related sciences – Required
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license – Required
Ability to maintain required licensing, certifications and education requirements
Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures
Review QC, specimen integrity and instrumentation
Process STAT orders and report results within required timeframes
Communicate critical values to providers
Maintain accurate laboratory documentation
Perform venous and arterial specimen collection when required
Maintain reagents, calibrators, controls and laboratory supplies
Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate technical support when needed
Support regulatory and accreditation readiness
Supervise Laboratory Assistants as needed
Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
25-bed hospital
Provides inpatient and outpatient services
Phlebotomy services available 24/7 throughout the hospital
Laboratory scheduling managed by the Lab Director/Manager
No on-call requirement
Other laboratory shifts include early morning, evening and overnight coverage
