Payroll Clerk / HR Coordinator

Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard weekly

The University Club of Memphis is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk / HR Coordinator to own our bi-weekly payroll process and support HR and recruiting for our team. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys ownership, works accurately under a recurring deadline, and wants a role where their work is clearly seen and valued. You'll run payroll from start to finish in ADP, then hand it off to the Director of Finance for final approval — so you'll have real responsibility without being the last line of sign-off.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

- 1–3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience (ADP experience strongly preferred)

- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or HR a plus

- Comfort working with confidential pay and personnel information

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to hit a recurring bi-weekly deadline

- Proficiency with Excel and payroll/HRIS systems

- Experience with tipped employees or hospitality/restaurant payroll is a plus, but not required

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Process bi-weekly payroll in ADP for all hourly and salaried staff

- Review timecards and follow up with managers to resolve missing punches

- Calculate and distribute tip allocations and instructor lesson fees

- Prepare the payroll register and hand off to the Director of Finance for review and approval

- Support recruiting through ADP — posting openings and tracking applicants

- Manage new-hire onboarding paperwork, including I-9 verification and benefit enrollment

- Keep employee and payroll records accurate and up to date

- Answer employee questions about pay, tips, and deductions
