Adventist Health Mendocino Coast is seeking an experienced Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Lead CLS) to provide technical leadership and supervision within the laboratory.
The Lead CLS will oversee laboratory testing, coordinate Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), supervise laboratory personnel, maintain quality and regulatory standards, and serve as a clinical laboratory resource when needed.
Leadership & Clinical ResponsibilitiesServe as technical consultant and direct supervisor for laboratory personnel
Oversee laboratory testing and Point-of-Care Testing (POCT)
Review and evaluate accuracy and validity of test results
Function as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist when needed
Coordinate staffing and ensure appropriate laboratory coverage
Identify training and competency needs
Develop and conduct laboratory training programs
Coordinate equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration
Oversee Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA)
Ensure compliance with CLIA, FDA, CAP, Joint Commission, AABB and OSHA requirements
Maintain laboratory policies, standards and procedures
Support regulatory and accreditation requirements
Assist with test performance characteristics, reference ranges and reportable ranges
Evaluate new laboratory instrumentation, technology, procedures and automation
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Allied Health Technologies, or equivalent
California CLS license – Required
5 years of clinical laboratory experience – Preferred
2 years of leadership experience – Preferred
Senior CLS or Lead CLS experience – Preferred
EPIC experience – Preferred
ASCP or NCA certification – Preferred
Strong laboratory leadership and supervisory experience preferred
25-bed critical access hospital
Serves both inpatient and outpatient populations
Laboratory leadership role with responsibility for testing, staffing, quality and regulatory compliance
