Wound Healing Institute Coordinator

Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and compassionate Wound Healing Institute Coordinator to support the daily operations of our Wound Healing Institute. This position plays a key role in coordinating patient care, managing clinic workflow, supporting providers and clinical staff, and ensuring patients receive timely and efficient service throughout the wound care process. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills and experience in a healthcare setting.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily administrative and operational workflow of the Wound Healing Institute.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, providers, clinical staff, referring offices, and insurance representatives.

  • Coordinate patient referrals, appointments, follow-up visits, and other aspects of the patient care process.

  • Obtain and process referrals and insurance authorizations in a timely manner.

  • Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, copays, deductibles, and other applicable patient financial responsibilities.

  • Communicate insurance and financial information to patients in a professional and understandable manner.

  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), insurance correspondence, and claim information as needed.

  • Assist with identifying and resolving billing and reimbursement issues.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure required documentation is complete and available.

  • Work closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure documentation supports appropriate billing and reimbursement.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.

  • Assist with developing and maintaining efficient clinic processes and workflows.

  • Track and maintain reports related to patient volume, referrals, authorizations, billing, and other departmental activities.

  • Assist with supply ordering, inventory coordination, and other administrative needs of the Wound Healing Institute.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable hospital and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous healthcare administrative, clinical, physician office, wound care, or medical billing experience preferred.

  • Experience with insurance verification, referrals, prior authorizations, claims, and/or reimbursement preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation preferred.

  • Experience working in a hospital, outpatient clinic, physician practice, or similar healthcare environment preferred.
