EHS Trainer

Job Title: EHS Trainer - Industrial Safety & Equipment Training

Reports to: EHS Training Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt

Location: Lakeland, Florida

Job Summary:

The EHS Trainer delivers professional classroom and hands-on environmental health and safety and industrial equipment training to employees, customers, contractors, and other personnel. The position works closely with the EHS Training Manager and combines practical industrial experience with strong training and communication skills to translate safety requirements into clear, practical safe-work expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct New-hire and site-specific safety orientation, ensuring employees understand company safety policies, procedures, hazard recognitions, and safe work practices.
• Provide equipment safety training and operator evaluations for forklifts and powered industrial trucks, overhead and gantry cranes, rigging and material handling equipment, aerial lifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and MEWPs, ensuring employees demonstrate safe and competent operation.
• Conduct or assist with OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour training when properly authorized and provide NFPA 70E electrical safety training when qualified, ensuring training meets applicable regulatory and company requirements.
• Deliver safety training in fall protection, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard communication, hot work and welding safety, hand and power tool safety, and job hazard/job safety analysis, reinforcing safe work practices and hazard awareness.
• Conduct hands-on demonstrations, practical exercises, and operator competency evaluations to verify employees can safely apply classroom instruction in industrial work environments.
• Maintain accurate training records, rosters, evaluations, certifications, and supporting documentation to ensure training requirements and employee qualifications are properly documented.
• Assist the EHS Training Manager with scheduling, coordinating, and organizing training activities based on operational, employee, and customer needs.
• Travel to company facilities, project sites, and customer locations to provide safety and equipment training based on operational and project requirements.
•  Represent the company professionally when interacting with employees, supervisors, customers, and other stakeholders while supporting the continuous improvement and expansion of EHS training services and capabilities.
   
   

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Safety, or a related field preferred.
•  Equivalent experience in industrial safety, equipment operation, or safety training may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in EHS, industrial safety, equipment operation, safety training, or a related field.
• Experience in delivering classroom and hands-on safety training required.
• Experience developing safety training programs and curriculum preferred.
• Experience providing EHS or safety training to external customers preferred.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of industrial equipment, safe operating practices, OSHA regulations, and industrial safety standards and practices.
• Strong communication, presentation, coaching, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate and provide instruction to employees at all levels, including entry-level employees, skilled craft personnel, supervisors, managers, and customer representatives.
• Ability to safely demonstrate industrial equipment operation and effectively evaluate operator knowledge, skills, and competency.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements and technical safety information into practical, easy-to-understand instruction applicable to heavy industrial work environments.
• Ability to effectively deliver both classroom and hands-on safety training to individuals and groups with varying levels of experience.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications:

• Train-the-Trainer certification or credentials in applicable industrial equipment or safety disciplines.
• OSHA Outreach Trainer authorization for OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour training.
• NFPA 70E training and/or electrical safety experience.
• First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification.
• CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP, CUSP, or other recognized professional safety credentials.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills, particularly the ability to effectively conduct safety and equipment training in both languages.

Work Location and Travel:

• Based in Lakeland, Florida, with travel to company facilities, project sites, and customer locations as required. Travel is up to approximately 30%, depending on training schedules and customer needs.

Work Environment:

• Work is performed in classroom, office, industrial facility, customer, and project-site environments. The role requires both classroom instruction and hands-on equipment demonstrations and evaluations. Work schedules may vary based on training requirements, customer schedules, and travel.
