Description

The purpose of this position is to provide diagnostic imaging services to patients utilizing various imaging modalities while ensuring accurate image acquisition, patient safety, and optimal patient care. The role prioritizes patient education, clearly explaining procedures and exams to promote understanding and cooperation.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Position-Specific Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Perform specialized tasks using CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment following prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  • Position patients for CT scans using appropriate positioning devices and protective equipment.
  • Conduct exams in accordance with Imaging Department Protocols or in consultation with the Radiologist.
  • Assist Radiologists with routine and interventional CT procedures.
  • Evaluate technical quality of CT scans, collate processed images in correct exposure sequence, and label them accordingly.
  • Transmit images to the Image Archival System.
  • Dispense and/or order oral contrast for CT scans as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement and safe administration of contrast agents.
  • Exhibit advanced knowledge in radiographic procedures, including X-ray and Fluoroscopy with a C-arm.
  • Adhere to ALARA standards for radiation safety.
  • Operate imaging equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate to a service engineer when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, including charge procedures and supplies.
  • Assist with clerical duties, patient transportation, and reception as required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other modalities and adjusting schedules as needed.
  • Obtain additional training or certification as required.
  • Assist in training or cross-training of imaging staff members as directed.
  • Order, stock, and maintain supply inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test, if applicable.
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting before starting employment.
Education, Licensure, and Certification
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program - Required.
  • ARRT registration in Radiology (R), including Computed Tomography (CT) - Required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire) - Required.
Experience
  • Less than 1 year of experience as a practicing CT Technologist - Required.
  • Prior experience in other modalities
