Day Shelter Operations Lead Mission Arvada - A Ministry of The Rising Church Part-Time 25-30 hours/week $18-$22/hour DOE Position Summary: Mission Arvada is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and hands-on Day Shelter Operations Lead to help oversee the daily operation of our homeless day shelter and housing navigation center. This is a highly relational position working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness, volunteers, staff, and community partners. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking initiative, handling unexpected situations, maintaining healthy boundaries, and responding calmly and compassionately to individuals experiencing crisis. Mission Arvada serves more than 1,000 unique individuals experiencing homelessness each year and has helped 72 chronically homeless individuals move into permanent housing in the past year. Schedule & Compensation: 25-30 hours per week Primarily Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30 AM-1:30 PM $18-$22/hour, depending on experience Some flexibility may occasionally be required Primary Responsibilities Help coordinate daily shelter operations, including meals, showers, clothing bank, donations, and facility needs Maintain a safe, welcoming, clean, and organized environment for clients, volunteers, and staff Interact with clients throughout the day, reinforce shelter expectations, and assist with de-escalation and conflict resolution Coordinate, supervise, and assign responsibilities to volunteers Assist with service-provider events, special projects, and client move-ins Communicate concerns and incidents promptly to Team Leads Work collaboratively with Mission Arvada staff, Team Leads, volunteers, and the Facilities Manager Participate in required staff meetings and training Qualifications: Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations preferred Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field and/or relevant professional or lived experience Strong interpersonal, communication, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills Ability to remain compassionate, calm, and professional in challenging situations Familiarity with trauma-informed care or willingness to be trained Basic proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, and Gmail Willingness to learn HMIS, Coordinated Entry, and other relevant systems Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to perform the physical responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation Personal sobriety required Active participation in a Christian church and church leadership reference required About Mission Arvada: Mission Arvada is a ministry of The Rising Church with a mission of helping the poor, the homeless, the marginalized and the forgotten with the love of Jesus Christ.
