Location: Clinton Township, MI 48038
Contract: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 5x8s or 4x10s
Earliest Start Time: 6:20 AM
Weekend Coverage: Not Required
Overnight Call: Not Required

Job Summary\n

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technician First Assistant (STFA) to provide first-assist support during surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with total joint procedures and/or robotic surgical cases, along with the required certifications and education.

\n

STFA candidates are preferred due to their ability to scrub cases when floated to other areas.

Key Responsibilities\n

\n
• Provide first-assist support to surgeons during surgical procedures.
\n
• Assist with total joint procedures and/or robotic surgical cases.
\n
• Demonstrate proficiency in closing total joint procedures and/or providing bedside assistance for robotic cases.
\n
• Maintain sterile technique and assist with surgical instrumentation and equipment.
\n
• Scrub surgical cases when needed.
\n
• Float to areas of equal or lesser acuity as requested to help avoid shift cancellations.
\n
• Assist with scrubbing cases when floated, based on department needs.
\n
• Complete cases safely and efficiently while supporting the surgical team.
\n
• May be required to work beyond the scheduled shift end time to complete ongoing cases.
\n
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety requirements.
\n

Required Qualifications\n

\n
• BLS Provider Certification from AHA – Required
\n
• NBSTSA CSFA Certification – Required
\n
• Proficiency in:\n
  \n
  • Closing total joint procedures, and/or
  \n
  • Bedside assistance for robotic surgical cases
  \n
\n
• Meet one of the following education requirements:\n
  \n
  • High School Diploma + 2 years of experience
  \n
  • GED + 2 years of experience
  \n
  • Associate Degree
  \n
  • Technical Degree
  \n
\n

RNFA Candidates\n

RNFA candidates may also be considered.

\n

\n
• RNFA candidates must be willing to float to the OR Circulator position when requested.
\n

Schedule & Flexibility\n

\n
• 5x8-hour shifts OR 4x10-hour shifts
\n
• Monday–Friday
\n
• Earliest start time: 6:20 AM
\n
• No weekend coverage required.
\n
• No overnight call required.
\n
• Candidates may need to work past their scheduled shift end to complete surgical cases.
\n
• If desired, additional hours may potentially be flexed off later in the week, depending on procedure volume and department needs.
\n

Important Float Requirement\n

Workers are expected to float to areas of equal or lesser acuity when requested to help prevent shift cancellations. This may include scrubbing surgical cases.

STFA candidates are preferred because they can provide both first-assist and scrub support when needed.
