We are currently offering highly competitive salaries for experienced General Studies Special Education Teacher with Master's degrees at our Brooklyn school. The General Studies Specialist will provide push-in and/or pull-out support in reading,  decoding, and/or reading comprehension/writing to small groups of up to 6 students in grades 1-5. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support in reading decoding and reading comprehension. 

  • Modify curriculum to address the needs and limitations of struggling students. 

  • Communicate regularly with parents on student progress. 

  • Develop alternative assessment methods for students to show what they've learned.

  • Work with curriculum coaches to address learning gaps in students' skills and knowledge.

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree or NY Certification in Special Education  

  • Experience working with special education students in small groups on reading decoding and comprehension.

  • Experience developing hands-on approach and creative learning techniques for struggling learners

  • Experience modifying curriculum and scaffolding instruction for struggling learners
