Position Summary
EnvisionAge Inc. is seeking five qualified Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) to provide clinical nursing services in support of the Defense Health Agency at Military Treatment Facilities within the Joint Base San Antonio healthcare market.
This is a full-time federal healthcare contract opportunity supporting military members, beneficiaries, and their families.
Schedule
Work is performed Monday through Friday. LPN/LVN coverage may be scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:30 PM, with the specific start/end time determined by the applicable clinic. Normal schedules consist of 9-hour shifts, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch, not to exceed 40 hours per week or 80 hours every two weeks.
Federal holidays are not normally worked.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The LPN/LVN will provide ambulatory nursing support and patient care in accordance with established Military Treatment Facility policies and procedures. Responsibilities may include:
- Provide direct nursing care and assist healthcare providers with patient treatment.
- Obtain and document patient information and nursing care in the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications in accordance with established policies and scope of practice.
- Perform or assist with clinical procedures including EKGs, visual acuity testing, oxygen administration, phlebotomy, irrigation of eyes and ears, tympanograms, splinting, and other clinic-specific procedures.
- Assist with patient and family education.
- Recognize urgent or emergent patient conditions, obtain assistance from an RN and/or physician, and initiate appropriate interventions as directed.
- Make referral appointments and assist with coordination of specialty care.
- Navigate electronic medical record systems to document care and support clinical operations.
- Maintain clinical equipment, medications, and supplies in accordance with facility requirements.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote quality and continuity of care.
These responsibilities are directly reflected in the PWS.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Candidate must:
- Be a graduate of an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate state agency.
- Have graduated from a State Board-accredited nursing program.
Licensure
- Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- No additional certification beyond BLS is identified by the PWS.
Experience
Experience requirements may vary depending on the specific clinic assignment. For Trainee Health Squadron assignments, the PWS specifically requires:
- Minimum one year of practical/vocational nursing experience in a clinic, laboratory, or immunization setting.
- Strong computer skills.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to successfully complete all Government credentialing/qualifying and security requirements.
- Must satisfy applicable health and immunization requirements prior to placement.
- Must be comfortable working within a military healthcare environment and using electronic medical record systems.
