The Pro Shop Attendant – Canyon Lanes is responsible for providing friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient guest service while supporting the daily operations of the Canyon Lanes Pro Shop, bowling center, and assigned Food & Beverage services. This role assists guests with bowling merchandise, equipment, lane assignments, reservations, scoring systems, food and beverage orders, and related services. The Pro Shop Attendant processes sales transactions, maintains inventory and product displays, supports bowling activities and events, and helps ensure the Pro Shop, bowling areas, and service areas remain clean, organized, safe, and well stocked.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets guests and provides prompt, professional, and courteous service while assisting with Pro Shop products, bowling services, Food & Beverage orders, and Canyon Lanes activities.
  • Assists guests with lane assignments, reservations, bowling equipment, scoring systems, shoe rentals, and general questions regarding Canyon Lanes services.
  • Assists guests with the selection of bowling balls, shoes, bags, accessories, apparel, and other merchandise based on guest needs and product knowledge.
  • Provides accurate information regarding product features, sizing, pricing, availability, bowling equipment options, menu items, promotions, leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Provides guests with bowling shoes and equipment and ensures items are properly collected, cleaned, sanitized, and stored after use.
  • Takes and accurately enters Food & Beverage orders into the point-of-sale system when assigned.
  • Delivers Food & Beverage orders to bowling lanes, seating areas, party areas, and other designated guest locations when needed.
  • Processes merchandise, bowling, and Food & Beverage sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, including cash, credit, comps, discounts, and other approved forms of payment.
  • Maintains accurate cash-handling practices and follows established procedures for assigned cash drawers and transactions.
  • Provides basic assistance with scoring systems, bowling equipment, lane reservations, and other bowling center functions within the scope of assigned training and responsibilities.
  • Assists with birthday parties, group events, leagues, tournaments, promotions, and special events, including bowling setup and Food & Beverage service.
  • Receives, organizes, stocks, and displays merchandise to maintain appropriate inventory levels and an attractive, guest-ready retail environment.
  • Monitors inventory levels and communicates low-stock, damaged, missing, or incorrectly priced merchandise to management.
  • Assists with receiving merchandise deliveries, verifying products against applicable documentation, and properly storing inventory.
  • Monitors and restocks bowling supplies, Food & Beverage items, condiments, paper products, utensils, beverages, and other operational supplies.
  • Maintains accurate pricing, product labels, signage, and merchandise displays in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the Pro Shop, bowling lanes, seating areas, counters, shoe rental areas, Food & Beverage service areas, storage areas, and surrounding workspaces.
  • Follows established food safety, sanitation, handwashing, glove use, allergen-awareness, and temperature-control procedures when handling Food & Beverage items.
  • Safely operates tools, point-of-sale systems, Food & Beverage equipment, and other equipment required for assigned duties in accordance with established procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assists with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, equipment checks, securing assigned areas, and completing required operational procedures.
  • Identifies and promptly reports equipment malfunctions, inventory discrepancies, food safety concerns, safety hazards, guest incidents, and other operational concerns to management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the operation of Canyon Lanes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrates strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of bowling equipment, accessories, and terminology preferred.
  • Ability to learn product features and provide guests with accurate information and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates basic mathematical skills and the ability to accurately process transactions and handle cash.
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems and standard retail equipment.
  • Ability to organize merchandise, maintain inventory, and complete assigned tasks with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates reliability, professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
  • USBC Pro Shop Technician certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Previous experience in a bowling pro shop or retail/service environment preferred.
  • Committed to providing exceptional guest service and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment.
  • Ability to lift, handle, and maneuver bowling equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in retail, bowling, entertainment, hospitality, or a related guest service environment preferred.
  • Prior experience in a bowling center, sporting goods store, or pro shop environment strongly preferred.
  • Previous cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of bowling equipment, products, and services preferred; willingness to learn required.
  • Strong cash-handling accuracy and familiarity with inventory practices is desirable.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, and management in person and occasionally by phone to assist with sales, equipment inquiries, and service needs.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries bowling balls, merchandise, and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds; may occasionally handle heavier items such as ball boxes or equipment cases with assistance.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands to handle food, operate a cash register or point-of-sale system, prepare snacks, and use kitchen utensils and small appliances safely and efficiently.
  • Mobility: Regularly moves throughout the pro-shop and bowling areas; must be able to stand and walk for extended periods while assisting customers and maintaining displays.
  • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains seated or standing at a workstation while performing repairs, drilling equipment, or managing transactions.
  • Tool Operation: Regularly operates bowling ball drilling and measuring equipment, hand tools, and cleaning devices; uses computers and other retail systems for sales and recordkeeping.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish fine details when drilling, engraving, or inspecting bowling balls and equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Regularly works in retail and bowling environments, with exposure to moderate to high noise levels and a smoking environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.                                   

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
