Purpose of Position

The Equipment Delivery Driver supports the Service and Sales departments by safely, efficiently, and professionally transporting equipment to and from customer locations and company facilities. This position is responsible for the proper loading, securing, transportation, and unloading of equipment while maintaining accurate delivery records and providing a positive customer experience. The Equipment Delivery Driver represents the Company in the field and is expected to follow all applicable safety, regulatory, and Company requirements.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver lawn and garden equipment, turf equipment, compact tractors, UTVs, and other assigned equipment to and from customer locations and Company facilities.

• Follow pickup and delivery schedules provided by the Service Administration team and communicate any delays, changes, or issues promptly.

• Safely load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using delivery trucks, trailers, ramps, liftgates, and other applicable equipment.

• Inspect equipment and delivery vehicles before and after transportation and report any damage, safety concerns, or mechanical issues.

• Ensure equipment is properly secured in accordance with applicable DOT regulations and Company safety procedures.

• Maintain accurate records of pickups and deliveries, including obtaining required customer signatures, receipts, and other documentation.

• Accurately record and report time, mileage, fuel usage, and other information associated with assigned deliveries.

• Provide basic operational instructions and information to customers when appropriate and within the scope of the position.

• Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, employees, and the public.

• Assist with maintaining assigned delivery vehicles, trailers, ramps, and related equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.

• Promptly report vehicle maintenance needs, equipment damage, accidents, or other safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

• Maintain all required licenses, certifications, medical qualifications, and documentation in accordance with DOT requirements and Company policy.

• Adhere to all Company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.

• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Service Writer, Service Manager, or other Company leadership.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds; occasionally handle heavier items with assistance or mechanical aids.

• Frequently climb in and out of delivery vehicles and onto and off trailers throughout the workday.

• Safely operate loading ramps, liftgates, trailer ramps, tie-downs, chains, straps, and other load-securement equipment.

• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in various positions while loading, securing, inspecting, and unloading equipment.

• Stand and walk for extended periods while performing deliveries, inspections, and related duties.

• Maintain balance, coordination, and control while loading and unloading equipment on uneven, sloped, or variable surfaces.

• Possess sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to safely operate vehicles, trailers, equipment, and related controls.

• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and other environmental conditions.

• Have adequate vision, with or without correction, to safely operate vehicles and inspect equipment, load securement, and surrounding conditions.

• Hear and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors in person and by telephone or other communication methods.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating a delivery vehicle or performing similar transportation duties.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicles operated.

• Must possess a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card), when required, or be able to obtain and maintain one.

• CDL is not required for this position, provided the vehicles operated remain within applicable non-CDL requirements.

• Must maintain a clean and safe driving record that meets Company requirements.

• Experience loading, unloading, and transporting equipment is preferred.

• Knowledge of proper load securement practices and applicable DOT requirements.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify and report equipment or vehicle issues.

• Ability to safely operate delivery trucks, trailers, loading ramps, liftgates, and related equipment.

• Ability to regularly lift and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage assigned schedules, and complete deliveries in a timely manner.
